Criminal Justice Program History

The University of Georgia initiated its degree program in Criminal Justice

Studies in 1976. The A.B. Degree in Criminal Justice offered by the University is

an interdisciplinary degree where students draw on the expertise of faculty in

various departments in both the College of Arts and Sciences and also in the

School of Public and International Affairs.    In a variety of courses, students are

introduced to the academic disciplines that are needed to understand crime

and the administration of criminal justice. Moreover, each student is given the

opportunity to work in a criminal justice agency in the program's internship.
