Since we first began our Alumni Panel in 1995, almost 100 alums have returned to campus to speak to CJ Students. Any Alums who would like to participate in our upcoming panel (Friday, November 4th, 2011), please reply to porter@uga.edu and let us know of your interest. The willingness of our graduates to share their experiences with current students is an invaluable asset to the CJ Program. This year's panel will be held on Friday, November 4, 2011 (day before Homecoming Game). Last
year, the Alumni Panel was held on Friday, October 15th and organized
as part of Career Services Public Service Programs, a series of
programs on graduate school opportunities, careers in government
and the environment, and criminal justice and security. The annual
Criminal Justice Alumni Panel was offered under the rubric of
criminal justice and security. Seventeen UGA alumni participated in this popular and well attended program which was held for the first time this year in the Student Learning Center, UGA’s new and fantastic classroom and study building. Participating graduates included Ashley Barnett, staff attorney with the Superior Court and Associate Magistrate Judge in Athens/Clarke and Oglethorpe counties; Ben Dickerson, a detective with the Athens/Clarke County Police Department; John Heinen, Special Agent in Charge of one of the GBI’s regional offices; Leigh Hodges from US Investigations; Ramsey Knowles, a second year law student from Georgia State University’s College of Law; Michael Kraft, chief probation officer in the Alcovy Judicial Circuit; Beonica Loveless medical examiner/investigator, GBI; Joshua Lovett, 1st Lt., US Air Force and recently returned from Iraq; Jesse Maddox, Special Agent, GBI; Alicia Martin, an investigator with the District Attorney in Albany, Georgia; Howell McKinnon and Brian Nelson, Athens/Clarke Police Department; Tony Poole, US Probation Officer; Scott Smith, Military Intelligence, US Army; Lance Stewart, Southern Center for Human Rights; Kerri Strawn, Loss Prevention, Neiman Marcus; and George Walker, Senior Parole Officer, State of Georgia.
